The House That Jesus Built

Have you ever been in a house that had a shady contractor? The shady contractor cuts corners, shaves money off in the quality of materials, and hires subpar workers for the house. The end product is a house, that while livable, is not an enjoyable place as it is lacking the quality and soundness you want in a house.

Contrast this with Jesus, the ultimate contractor. In John 14:2-3,

“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”

Jesus, the architect of all the known and unknown universe has built a place for you. The one who hung each star in its place has also placed the mantel over the fireplace of your eternal home. The lawn is groomed, and the beds are made. The only thing missing is you. Jesus has perfectly crafted a place for you to dwell with him.

And because Jesus, the Perfect One, has constructed your house you never have to worry about the quality of construction. Just as with your salvation, Jesus paid the full cost to build the house. He cut no corners, took no short cuts with the final product. And better still, there will never be maintenance that has to be done, because once Jesus builds the house, it instantly becomes an eternal dwelling place.

While this world may drag us down from time to time, we can be encouraged that our Savior, Jesus Christ has built a place for us in his eternal kingdom. And we can hang our hats on the promise that when all is ready, when the time is right and not a moment past this time, that he will come and gather all the saints together and bring us to our respective homes in glory.

And may the fact that Jesus is building houses for all those who belong to him should encourage us to invite as many people as we can so we can have a multitude of neighbors.

Be encouraged and be ready for we never know when Jesus will come.
