The Glory of Jesus & His Work

Why Should the person and work of Jesus matter to me?

Jesus Christ stands as the ultimate answer to humanity's greatest problem—sin. Sin separates us from God, taints our nature, and ensures eternal judgment apart from His grace. Yet, in His unparalleled love and glory, Jesus, the eternal Son of the Father, entered our broken world to redeem and reconcile us. Fully God and fully man, He is uniquely qualified to bridge the infinite gap between a holy God and sinful humanity.

The Bible reveals Jesus as the Creator and Sustainer of all things. "For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him" (Colossians 1:16). His divine power is not only evident in the act of creation, but also in His ongoing work to sustain the universe. Every breath we take, every heartbeat, is sustained by Jesus' sovereign will. This truth underscores His divine nature and His intimate involvement in every aspect of life.

Jesus' work did not stop with creation. He came to redeem a fallen world. At the cross, Jesus bore the weight of humanity's sin, fulfilling God’s perfect justice and extending grace to those who believe in Him. "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24). The glory of Jesus shines brightly in His self-sacrificing love, with His death and resurrection providing the only way for reconciliation with God. Through this work of redemption, He made it possible for sinners to be forgiven, justified, and adopted into God's family.

Fully God and fully man, He is uniquely qualified to bridge the infinite gap between a holy God and sinful humanity.

Finally, Jesus is the righteous Judge who will come again to set all things right. The Bible assures us that He will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. His judgment will be perfectly just because He, as God, knows all things and discerns every heart. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil" (2 Corinthians 5:10). This truth calls believers to live in reverent obedience and to take refuge in His grace.

The person and work of Jesus display the fullness of God’s glory. He creates, sustains, redeems, and judges with divine authority and perfect wisdom. More than that, He offers hope, forgiveness, and eternal life to those who trust Him. Jesus is not merely the solution to our sin; He is the source of our joy, peace, and purpose. Through Him, we see the beauty and majesty of God revealed in its fullest. Indeed, Jesus Christ is the answer to our deepest need and the greatest treasure of all.
