Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of FBC DeSoto is an exciting and rewarding way for believers in Christ to serve God and the Church. The focus of each music group is to lift up and exalt the name of Jesus, and to lead the congregation to worship God in Spirit and Truth. We believe that using our talents and abilities to serve God will bring us closer together as believers and draw us closer to God through Jesus Christ our Savior.   From the youngest preschool choir member to the sound, video and lighting technicians, we teach the importance of serving the Lord for what He has done for us.  If you love the Lord and want to serve Him through the music ministry, we have many opportunities for you to get involved as we minister and worship together.

Worship Choir

Worship Choir is open to adults and High School students that love the Lord and love to sing.  This choir has the responsibility of leading in our morning worship services and preparing special music to share during special services such as Easter and Christmas.  Worship Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. along with the AM Praise Band to prepare a variety of music that is Christ centered and God honoring. 

Vocals and Ensembles

We also have the opportunity for musicians to share their talents with the Church by participating in small groups, singing solos or playing their instruments during our worship services.   

AM Praise Band

This group is by audition only and has the responsibility of leading our morning worship services along with the Minister of Music, as well as accompanying the Worship Choir.  Each member of this group must have a deep love for the Lord, be accomplished on his or her instrument and be willing to spend long hours rehearsing to make sure that the music for Sunday morning is fully prepared and is worthy as a sacrifice of praise to God.

PM Praise Band

This new group, like our AM Band, is by audition only.   It too is made up of instrumentalist and vocalist that have a deep love for the Lord and can read music and play (or sing) their instruments at an accomplished level.  The responsibility of this group is to help lead our evening worship service on Sundays.  The music expressed by this group is truly that of worshiping our Lord and Savior whether it be through traditional hymns, modern hymns, or praise choruses.

Preschool Choir ~ 3 yrs. Old - K 

Children’s Choir ~ 1st - 6th grade

These kids meet once a week on Sunday nights and are taught music that lifts up the name of the Lord.  They prepare music to share during our Sunday services, as well as special programs around Easter and Christmas.  The children are taught the basic fundamentals of music and the importance of praising and worshiping God through music.

Youth Praise Band ~ 7th - 12th grade

These students rehearse once a week on Wednesday afternoon to prepare music for the youth worship services.   This group is generally student lead and is also guided by the Music and Youth Ministers in the selection and preparation of the music.  They have the responsibility of leading the youth to sing and lift up praises to Christ our Lord.
